I saw this excerpt of Banksy’s thoughts on advertising earlier today, so I thought I’d share.

People are taking the piss out of you everyday. They butt into your life, take a cheap shot at you and then disappear. They leer at you from tall buildings and make you feel small. They make flippant comments from buses that imply you’re not sexy enough and that all the fun is happening somewhere else. They are on TV making your girlfriend feel inadequate. They have access to the most sophisticated technology the world has ever seen and they bully you with it. They are The Advertisers and they are laughing at you.

You, however, are forbidden to touch them. Trademarks, intellectual property rights and copyright law mean advertisers can say what they like wherever they like with total impunity.

Fuck that. Any advert in a public space that gives you no choice whether you see it or not is yours. It’s yours to take, re-arrange and re-use. You can do whatever you like with it. Asking for permission is like asking to keep a rock someone just threw at your head.

You owe the companies nothing. Less than nothing, you especially don’t owe them any courtesy. They owe you. They have re-arranged the world to put themselves in front of you. They never asked for your permission, don’t even start asking for theirs.

- Banksy

Juvia, named after a brazilian nut is Asian / Peruvian fusion on top of the beautiful 1111 Building at the end (or the beginning? lol) of Lincoln Road. The chefs are all top notch and include a Daniel Boulud prodigy, to Sunny Oh from Nobu.

We were greeted by a GM named Jaime who sat us down and were immediately blown away by the atmosphere. Gorgeous rooftop, 20-25 foot tall organic vertical garden (created by a man from Taiwan that has apparently done wall gardens for Oprah and the Queen). The music was fantastic and we caught ourselves shazaming and purchasing a few tracks throughout the evening. Indoor and outdoor seating with a majestical bar made out of amethyst. Oh and did I mention the view. It’s crazy sick – awe-struck. But I digress… We were served by Matt who took us on a culinary journey while providing great attention and top notch service.

They offer a wonderful cocktail selection. 14 different drinks all made with organic fresh squeezed juices. With that said, we had:

Purple Rain – grey goose, chicha morada and fresh lemon sour.

Nashi Pear Sangria – Sauvignon blanc, Asian pear, St. Germain, canton, ambria

Salmon Nashi – truffle oil, dry miso, micro arugula

Causa Croquette – tuna, red onion, cilantro, aji amarillo aioli

Unagi Chocolate – Causa, chocolate eel sauce

Sea Scallops Plancha – black trumpet, yellow chanterelles, garlic chips

Chilean Seabass – maple glazed eggplant, Hawaiian heart of palm, basil soy butter

Juvia Chocolate Croustillant – cafe caramel sauce

Alexandra’s Choco Berry Sundae – crumble, strawberry granite

A serious contender in Miami Beach. Cocktails, atmosphere, music, food and flawless service.

This is the ultimate cool lounge to bring in your out-of-town guests for the South Beach experience yet also cool enough and hip for locals.

Decor is all neon lights (but not cheesy) with hundreds of little lights on the ceiling, one panoramic screen surrounding the club alternating scenes and gorgeous looking people.

Tasted all of the following cocktails, each one unique and clever: Quiver, Pop Drop, Fever, Haven

Food is from a charming and southern Chef Todd Erickson. Ate half the menu and it was all delicious: Lobster Scallop Crudo, Sea Monster Crudo , Water Salad, Maki Peru Roll, BBQ Eel Roll, Vegetarian Slider, Day Boat Slider, Crab Cake Slider, Tater Tots and last but not least, Captain Crunch Nitro Ice Cream.

Funny enough, half the stuff I’ve made from his cooking book and I ordered them just to compare it with my homemade versions and of course it was 10x better lol Example: his homemade ricotta, polenta fries and even his pizza dough (with a little bit of honey). Speaking of which, had two pies. Check out the pics.

Braised Fennel – trugole, basil, caramelized onion and green olives

Pesto – homemade ricotta, mozzarella, pecorino and fresh tomatoes

Congrats to Miami’s finest pizzeria!

NeMesis Urban Bistro is Micah Edelstein’s (Season 3 “Top Chef” contestant) new place w/ partner Harald Oechsner in downtown around the corner from Space. Below an art gallery, NeMesis is full of artsy installation beyond the really cool portraits of artsy people. You’ll find an array of vividly different colored umbrellas hanging from the roof, a horizontal sculpture made up of 100′s of men’s neck ties and even an Indian inspired wall light hand made by Micah herself from stabbing aluminum w/ a needle. Needless to say the place’s decor is fantastically cool.

The food itself is what Micah calls – “eclectic world cuisine” with dishes from all over the world from her many travels as you can see in these dishes we devoured:

Baked Veggie Samoosa – Melon Chutney
Mini Caprese – Ricotta Salsa, Cashew Pesto
Kira Inspired Scallop – Grilled Bread, Tomato Saffron Sauce, Currants
Chamomile Horseradish Glazed Salmon – Cold Quinoa Salad, Grilled Apple
Warm Malva Pudding – Cool Amarula Sauce
Coffee – Grated Nutmeg Brewed On The Table

Everything was perfected to a T and it was only their soft opening! Presentation, tastes, uniqueness, so many adjectives… just look at the pics and drool.

I chatted after w/ Micah and she said it perfectly – “I want it to be like sex in your mouth…” Thanks for taking my belly on a trip across the globe… to many more orgasms :P
